FAQ Schema Generator

Enter your questions and answers, get valid FAQPage JSON-LD plus matching page markup. Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Question 2

How it works

  1. 1

    Enter your Q&As

Add each question and its full answer exactly as they appear (or will appear) on your page.

  2. 2

    Copy the JSON-LD

The FAQPage structured data updates live. Copy it or download it as a file.

  3. 3

    Add both to your page

Paste the script block into your page and make sure the same Q&As are visible to visitors — the second tab gives you matching HTML.

What FAQ schema actually does in 2026

Honest version first: Google killed FAQ rich results. After restricting them to well-known government and health sites in August 2023, Google deprecated FAQ rich results for every site on May 7, 2026. Adding this markup will not get you expandable Q&As in Google search results, full stop.

So why does this tool exist? Because the FAQ format — a direct question followed by a self-contained answer — is one of the most quotable content structures for AI assistants. Independent testing found ChatGPT and Perplexity returning FAQ answers nearly verbatim; they read the visible text, and a well-structured Q&A is exactly the shape of passage an answer engine wants to lift. The JSON-LD adds a machine-readable copy of the same content for engines and knowledge systems that do parse structured data.

That's why this generator produces both artifacts: the schema and the visible HTML. Publish them together — schema describing content that isn't on the page is a guidelines violation everywhere.

Writing answers AI engines can quote

Answer first, then elaborate. The first sentence should fully answer the question on its own — AI retrieval works on passages, and a passage that opens with the answer survives being quoted out of context.

Keep answers self-contained. Name the subject instead of starting with "It" or "This" — an extracted answer loses the question above it. And keep them concise: under a couple of hundred words each. Research on generative-engine visibility (the Princeton GEO study) found that concrete statistics and citations in a passage measurably increase how often it's used in AI answers — a specific "ships in 2–4 business days" beats a vague "ships fast."

Frequently asked questions

Does FAQ schema still give you rich results in Google?
No. Google restricted FAQ rich results to government and health sites in August 2023, then deprecated them entirely on May 7, 2026. No site gets FAQ rich results in Google anymore — any tool still promising them is out of date.
Why add FAQ schema at all in 2026?
Three reasons: the question-and-answer content format is what AI assistants quote (testing shows ChatGPT and Perplexity return FAQ answers nearly verbatim from the page text), the markup remains valid machine-readable Q&A for engines other than Google, and it costs nothing to include. The visible FAQ content matters more than the markup — this tool gives you both.
Do the questions and answers have to appear on my page?
Yes. Structured data must describe content that is visible on the page. Marking up Q&As that users can't see violates search-engine guidelines and gets the markup ignored. Use the 'Matching page HTML' tab to get markup for the visible version.
Can I use HTML in the answers?
Yes — a limited set: links, bold, italic, lists, paragraphs, line breaks and headings. This tool escapes everything else automatically so the output stays valid.
Where do I put the generated code?
Paste the script block anywhere in your page's HTML — the head is conventional. One FAQPage per page, on the page where the Q&As actually appear.
